Qiyang joined the Chueh group in April 2019 as a joint postdoctoral research fellow between Stanford and Advanced Light Source (ALS) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He received his PhD degree in Materials Science from MIT working with Prof. Bilge Yildiz. Before that he did his undergraduate study at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, also in Materials Science. Qiyang’s research in Chueh group combines epitaxial oxide thin films with well-defined microstructure and surface chemistry with advanced in situ/operando X-ray photoemission spectroscopic tools, aiming to understand the fundamental surface electrochemical processes during the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Outside the lab, Qiyang enjoys watching DIY videos on YouTube and trying some DIY electronics projects (he once made a 3D printer using plywood when none of his experiments were working).
